Many people ask me how to find their ring size. It’s a simple process, but something I never really thought about before learning how to make jewellery.
To get the job done, all you need is a plastic ring sizer. They don’t cost much and you can easily find one online - just make sure you read reviews before you buy.
These nifty tools work like a belt. All you need to do is tighten the loop around your finger and adjust it to a comfortable fit. Then look at the number the arrow is pointing to and that’s your ring size. Presto - you’re done!
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
- It’s important to measure your finger while it’s at room temperature. If it’s too hot or cold, your finger size may fluctuate.
- Make sure the ring slides over your knuckle with just enough friction to keep it from slipping off easily. A ring should fit snugly around the base of your finger without feeling too tight.
- Wiggle room matters. You should be able to push the ring up from the bottom with your thumb and see a small gap between the metal and your finger. You want just enough wiggle room to accommodate fluctuations in finger size.
Happy ring sizing! And while we're talking about rings, check out my gemstone rings and stackers made using sterling silver or Argentium®.
